Wolverhampton South West Liberal Democrats have selected popular local Councillor Robin Lawrence to stand for them at the next General Election.
Robin lives just off the Tettenhall Road with his wife and three children, he was elected to the City Council in 2007 where he is now Chair of the Children and Young People Scrutiny. Robin is a drama teacher and is a keen champion of the arts.
Robin said "I am delighted to have been selected. As a local councillor and resident in Wolverhampton South West it has become clear to me that people in the constituency are being under represented by the current Labour MP and by the current political system. The Liberal Democrats are the only political party with real solutions to the problems facing Britain today, it is the Liberal Democrats who are leading the way by proposing by a permanent 4p cut in income tax to help families struggling with the recession."
The Liberal Democrats are challenging Labour in the constituency, having gained two Councillors from Labour and almost gaining a third recently.
Robin further said "The Liberal Democrats are the only party to have made gains in Wolverhampton South West since the last General Election, whilst Labour are falling back the Conservatives have made no gains showing it is the Liberal Democrats that are challenging Labour here."
With Labour failing us and the Tories showing their ineptitude, especially over the economy, it clear Robin Lawrence and the Liberal Democrats are the only choice for change in Wolverhampton South West.
Wolverhampton Liberal Democrat Member of the European Parliament Liz Lynne welcomed Robin's selection saying "I am truly pleased that Robin will be our candidate in the next general election. I have worked with him for many years as he fought hard for the people of Park Ward and I am looking forward to continuing this work as he fights for the whole of the Wolverhampton South West Constituency. Robin is both hard working and intelligent, and is certainly an excellent candidate. I am sure that he will make a fantastic MP for Wolverhampton."
